Riding Mill Churches Together Café Church
An introduction
What is café church?
It is an occasional opportunity to worship and to explore the Christian faith
in an informal setting, whilst sharing food. It includes both items to watch
/ listen to and opportunities for discussion with those sharing your table.
How is it happening in Riding Mill?
Riding Mill Churches Together are hosting occasional café church 'services'.
The first was held on 13 May 2007 in the afternoon in the Millennium Hall. At
this one, around 30 people (including a number of children) focussed on the theme
'rescued'.

Afternoon tea was provided free of charge, including sandwiches, savoury items
and lots of cakes! Tea and coffee were ‘on tap’ throughout the session.
Elements of the afternoon included a background slide loop of pictures, an illustrated
song about people being moved from St Kilda, Bible stories (including audience
participation), and opportunities for discussion and reflection. Alongside, the
children came and went from their own table, where they built structures with
spaghetti and marshmallows, and made bookmarks (and everyone received a reminder
bookmark at the end of the session).
